How to Clean Outside Windows From Inside (No Ladder Needed)
Apartment and upper-floor windows are the hardest to keep clean: the inside is easy, but the outside usually means a ladder, a professional or leaning out further than you should. A double-sided magnetic cleaner solves this by cleaning both sides of the glass at the same time while you stay inside.
How a magnetic window cleaner works
The cleaner has two pads, one for each side of the glass. Strong magnets hold them together through the window, so when you move the inside pad, the outside pad follows and wipes the exterior glass.
Step by step
- Attach the safety rope first so the outer pad can't fall if it separates.
- Place the outer pad on the outside of the glass, then line up the inner pad on the inside.
- Wipe in slow, overlapping strokes from top to bottom so dirty water runs onto glass you haven't cleaned yet.
- Finish the edges and corners, then separate the pads carefully from the inside.
Tips for a streak-free finish
- Clean on a cloudy day — direct sun dries the glass too fast and leaves streaks.
- Rinse the pads between windows so you aren't moving dirt around.
- Use a dry microfiber cloth on the inside corners for a final polish.
